ANDERSON, Mo. – The City of Anderson is facing major flooding after seeing more than six inches of rain in only a few hours.

According to the Anderson Police Chief, this round of flooding is much worse than what the city faced just three years ago.

He says the main street bridge has totally been washed out, and this time around they’ve seen more homes damaged and they have several apartment buildings that will be need to be bulldozed once the water recedes.

Much of the town has been evacuated and many families have been displaced.

He says they’re also dealing with swept away cars, many of which were parked on higher ground to try and avoid the flooding but were swept away regardless.

He says they had to shut down 59 Highway Sunday morning, but were able to reopen it until more floodwaters came in forcing them to close it again.
