Sites around the state of Missouri are paying their final respects to a fallen soldier.
Governor Mike Parson ordered flags at half staff for the day in honor of Army Reserve Specialist Jackson D. Johnson of Hillsboro, Missouri.
He was killed while serving in Kuwait when his vehicle crashed with another.
Flags have been lowered at both city and state offices along with many private businesses.
Patrick Tuttle of the Joplin CVB says, “Even though it was a non-combat accident, it was still one. We have a serviceman from the state who was deployed over there serving our nation, serving our country.”
Specialist Johnson passed away along with Sergeant Holli Bolinski of Illinois on March 5th.
