First responders honored in Joplin barbecue

A local church invited the public to a barbecue to honor our community heroes.

Hope City Church in Joplin held a community hero night to thank local first responders.

Visitors enjoyed barbecue, inflatables, and vehicle tours, as well as watching a helicopter land in Hope City’s backyard.

Since first responders work hard every day to keep the community safe, Hope City wants to use this event to honor them for what they do.

Cody Walker, Lead Pastor says, “It’s a big deal for us because we think supporting the community’s huge. The community and the church, we really want to see it as one and we want to be a blessing to the community, but also want to make sure that they know they’re a huge blessing to us and what they do.’

All first responders at Sunday’s event received a ‘Community Hero Night’ T-shirt for free.
