First of its kind event helps employers attract potential job seekers

The stormy weather let up just in time for an Outdoor Job Fair in Joplin.

The first of its kind event, held in the parking lot of Memorial Hall, was put on by the Missouri Job Center. 57 different employers signed up to participate but due to the storm the night before, several of them weren’t able to make it. Troy Roland with the Missouri Job Center says the event was prompted by local businesses desperate for employees.

“Employers were reaching out to us and wanted to have something to where they could attract potential job seekers qualified applicants, so we threw this together, they’ve turned out in droves today, we’ve had over 80 job seekers in the first hour,” says Roland.
