Hundreds pack a local park for a day of simply getting to know one another, or even taking a new step in their faith.
Grace Baptist Church hosts its Fall Faith In The Field event at Schifferdecker Park.
The event invites the public to enjoy live music, worship, a trunk-or-treat, bounce houses, and fall-themed food.
Nearly 600 people gathered for the event, the largest turnout the church has had at the event yet.
Church leaders say they started the event a few years ago, with the idea of allowing people to come as they are and spread their message in a comfortable and laid-back setting.
“Sometimes when you go to church, it just doesn’t feel like you’re welcome there. And what we’re trying to do is just let people know that we’re broken just like you are. We’re hurting just like you are. There’s a lot of us that are just messed up and if it wasn’t for Christ we would be,” says Brad Wieneke with Grace Baptist Church.
Grace Baptist will have another Faith In The Field event in the Spring around Easter.
Congregates are fully responsible for raising the funds that make these events happen every year.
