Fairland community provides support for woman with histoplasmosis

Nelly’s Fun Day was held Saturday to show support to a member of the Fairland community suffering from histoplasmosis.

Nelly’s family were proud to see the hundreds of people that came out to the many events held during the day.

There was a 5K mile fun walk, conrhole tournament, vendors, inflatables, and much more.

All proceeds from Nelly’s Fun Day will help support her in paying her many medical expenses.

Kara Brixey, Nelly’s sister-in-law, says, “A week ago and a day she got off her echmo machine, which is a full life support machine. Up onto that point she wasn’t able to move her legs at all. So she’s been in bed, just straight in bed, and not able to even move for over 40 days. So, now she’s regaining strength it’s obviously pretty painful for her.”

It’s only been a couple of months since she was diagnosed with histoplasmosis , but she is expected to make a full recovery.

Brixley says Nelly has an army behind her, especially in the Fairland community, supporting her during this journey.
