The ex-step-father of Hailey Owens will spend 7 years behind bars and serve another 10 years of probation.

Jeffrey Barfield, 40, was sentenced Tuesday for federal child porn charges.

He pleaded guilty to sharing explicit images of underage girls online earlier this year.

Federal prosecutors asked for 12 years in prison, due to the nature of the crime, calling it disturbing.

They argued that Barfield is a danger to the community, and victimized a substantial number of children, and knowingly posted images of child porn.

However, when authorities raided Barfield’s home in 2016, investigators said Hailey Owens was not a victim of Barfield’s and there’s no connection to her death and Barfield’s charges.

Barfield’s 10-year-old Stepdaughter, Hailey, was abducted, raped, and killed by Craig Wood in 2014.

Wood was sentenced to death for the crime.

Barfield had pushed for a change to the Amber Alert system after Hailey’s death.

When released from prison, he will have to register as a sex offender.
