Due to frigid temperatures, energy assistance relief is available in Southwest Missouri for low-income families.
Representatives with the Economic Security Corporation say if you qualify for the program, the corporation will make a one-time payment towards your primary heat source. This includes sources like natural gas, propane, and wood.
The Economic Security Corporation is federally funded by the Department of Social Services. Representatives say since October 1st, they’ve served more than three thousand households.
“It’s very beneficial a lot of the customers we serve are elderly or disabled. Where they can’t you know there not going to increase their income so this payment will help them stretch their income,” says Tammy Walker, Community Development Director.
