Brownback vetoes legislation that would have increased Medicaid access


Brownback vetoed the measure saying it lacks work requirements, burdens the state budget, and does not defund Planned Parenthood. Groups for the expansion say it would have brought money back to the state and help protect rural and urban hospitals.

The Kansas House attempted to override the veto, but they were three votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed for an override.
