Early morning car chase leaves officer injured and suspect in custody

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the cruiser crashed around 1:30 Friday morning on Highway 43, near Kentucky Road, 2 miles north of Seneca. Troopers say Jacob Hamblett’s patrol car missed a sharp curve, flew off the road, and hit a ditch. Hamblett was taken to a Miami hospital with minor injuries, and was treated and released. Authorities say the suspect crashed his vehicle near the Dollar General store on Highway 43 in Seneca. Newton County deputies took 50-year-old Todd Botts, 50, into custody and turned him over to the Miami Police Department.   Botts is being held on suspicion of drug possession and driving under the influence.
