Do’s and dont’s of driving in the snow

If you drove in the snow today, there’s a good chance you saw at least one car off on the side of the road.

That’s why area law enforcement is reminding motorists to be as careful as possible when behind the wheel. Captain Trevor Duncan with the Joplin Police Department says only go out if you absolutely have to. And he says one of the worst things drivers can do is be in a hurry.

“Just know you’re going to be late to wherever you’re going, and you need to use the utmost caution and  slowing way before you need to come to a stop, watch what other drivers are doing, eliminating all distractions you can in the vehicle,” says Trevor Duncan.

He says not to use cruise control in hazardous conditions because you may not realize that you’re car is sliding until it’s too late.
