Deputy Injured in Officer Involved Shooting Northeast of Joplin


DUQUESENE, MO. — Authorities say a Jasper County deputy has been shot although it’s unclear what prompted the incident.

The call came in just before five this evening.

Medical Assistance has responded to the area of Gerbitz Road and Travis Acres Road.

Surrounding law enforcement officials are also responding.

At 6:10 pm, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office released details regarding the shooting, describing the suspect a bald while male, short in stature, shirtless, with no tattoos. He was last seen on foot near Travis Acres in Joplin. Anyone who sees this man is urged to call 911 immediately.
