DACA Protest in Joplin

News

Protesters made signs and stood out by 32nd Street in Joplin to show their support of the DACA program and why they believe it should remain active. The DACA program allows young individuals who were brought into the U.S. illegally as children to stay in the states to work and attend school.

“It’s be un-American and I think if we’re actually going to make a point and have patriotism, then we need to stand up for people who didn’t have a choice coming here and this is all they knew,” says political activist Joshua Lockwood.

Lockwood and other DACA supporters felt that their physical presence at the protest helps to push local congressmen and women to act.
