Crowder College AEL Department holds “Love of Literacy” book drive


The Adult Education and Literacy Department at Crowder College is hoping to get more books into their students homes.

It’s the first “Love of Literacy” book drive. The AEL department has many students that are parents and it’s designed to reinforce the literacy skills they learn in class at home. Originally they wanted to gather up fifty pieces of reading material ranging from toddler books to junior high level books.

So far the Crowder College campus in Neosho already has more than three hundred books given by local businesses and organizations. While they have completely exceeded their original goal they are still accepting books until Friday afternoon.

“We were think the people on Facebook that are watching, maybe we can get to fifty, between who we have. And so first call we had a hundred and forty nine books donated,” says Juli Denisco, AEL director.

Families will be selecting their books at multiple AEL facilities around the area on March 2nd. Book drop-off locations include:
