Crawford county sees high tourism numbers

News

Last year was a big year for tourism in Crawford county.

Hotels in the area reported a record number of guests with more than 100 thousand room nights. And the county is attributing the tourism hike to all the businesses coming to the area. This year, Crawford county is anticipating another big boost.

“And we’re very excited about now we can have a place downtown to throw axes at. A couple new breweries coming in the next year, it’s just very excited that these businesses can help us attract even more tourists, then the possibility we’ve had in the past,” says Devin Gorman, Crawford Cty. Visitors Bureau.

The high amount of visitors can be related to the opening of the Robert W. Plaster Center at PSU and Kansas Crossing Casino with the completion of the four lane highway spanning from Pittsburg to Kansas City, the county says this will bring in more people.
