Crawford County has finished hand counting ballots after two races from last week’s election were too close to count.
A team of sixteen Democrats and Republicans began counting the ballots by hand around eight o’clock this morning and wrapped things up just before seven this evening. They counted more than 38 hundred ballots in the district three county commission race and 57 hundred ballots in the District Two State House race.
Once the hand count was complete, Democrat Jeremy Johnson defeated Republican Chad Ulepich in the District Three County Commission race by 25 votes. Going into today’s count, Johnson had lead by 22 votes.
In the race for the State House in District Two, Democrat Adam Lusker finished with a 746 vote lead over Republican Kenneth Collins. Lusker’s lead was 741 votes coming into today. However, Collins actually won the seat because of results in Neosho, Allen and Bourbon Counties. Commissioners ordered the recount Tuesday citing “manifest errors.”
The final results will be presented to the county commission tomorrow morning.
