Crawford County will soon be switching over to a newer mass notification system.
The switch comes in an effort to cut down costs in the county’s budget and to utilize a more user friendly program.
The new system is called nixle and works by collecting the information of county residents and sending them alerts on anything from weather updates to road closures.
The county says they’ve seen it work for other areas, so making the change was a no-brainer.
Jason VanBecelarere, with the Emergency Management of Crawford county says, “The previous one seemed a little bit different to use for some people. With this new one it’ll be a little bit easier to send a text out and it will get your information.”
Crawford county emergency management plans on rolling out the new technology for usage next month.
They will also be posting to their facebook page for when residents can sign up for alerts.
