Joplin Area Coronavirus

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin sees a slight drop in the unemployment rate for August.

A state report shows the number decreasing from 6% in July to 5.9% in August. That continues a four month trend that saw the highest rate logged last April when it hit double digits.

The unemployment rate before that had been significantly lower, coming in at just 3.5% in March of 2020.
