A group of employees with the city of Joplin walked out of city hall today, but they weren’t doing so in protest.
They were actually doing it for national walking day. Employees with the city used part of their lunch hour to take advantage of the event as well as the beautiful weather.
“It’s a part of out monthly challenger for our wellness program that we’re doing and this month’s theme is walking so you get points if you walk with people so this is an opportunity to one, get some exercise on this beautiful day and uh to get some points for their challenge,” says Jillian Doherty the Community Health Planner & Educator for the City of Joplin.
Next year’s national walking day takes place on April Fool’s day.
