City of Granby hosts competition for the community to beautify Main Street

News

The city of Granby is hosting a planter competition this spring. Residents and organizations within the city have adopted planters along Main Street which they’ve filled with plants and decorations of their choice. Those competing are in charge of maintaining their barrels and will have a chance to win a gift card from the city during the Mining Day’s Celebration. While this project does help bring some beauty to downtown, it has also brought much of the city together.

“We’ve basically just kinda of put it out there social media-wise that we’re looking to just beautify the town and make it better than it was the day before and the community has rallied around that,” says Granby Mayor Ira Hawkins.

Those interested in showing off their gardening skills can still adopt a planter for $5. That money goes straight to the gift certificate for the winner of the competition.
