Volunteers across the Joplin area pack up prom dresses and tuxedos for a big move.
Volunteers from McAuley High School and the community sorted and organized gowns and suits for Operation Fairy Godmother’s next location. The charity organization used to provide prom essentials at an affordable cost to high school students out of the Beacon School in Duenweg. But now the organization has relocated inside Northpark Mall and hired a new director. Organization staff are grateful to not be limited on how many dresses and tuxes they can provide.
“It’s something that you know in the first inception of this program and dreaming about it and praying about it and yeah sorry, it’s coming true and it’s amazing,” says Debbie Leatherman, Operation Fairy Godmother current director of operations.
“I am so excited. It’s the perfect place. It’s going to be the perfect place for not just the kids of Joplin, but the kids of the four states area to be able to be where everybody can be served,” says Erica Rogers, Operation Fairy Godmother new director of operations.
With Erica’s passion for hair and makeup, she hopes as the new director to bring back salon days at the new location.
