Carver National Monument sees an increase in visitors this year

An area attraction is experiencing a big increase in visitors.

There has been a nearly 25 percent increase of visitors to Carver National Monument this year compared to last year, and a 50 percent increase in visitors during the month of April when compared to April 2018. Park Ranger Randall Becker says there are a number of factors that have contributed to the increased popularity of the monument.

“I thinks it’s a great staff we have here, and I think, and beyond, our partners in the community have been fantastic, our volunteers, Joplin CVB, the chamber of commerce both in Neosho and Joplin, we got Connect to Culture, and so many more,” says Randall Becker, supervisory park ranger.

He also thinks the increasing number of special events held almost every weekend is also a factor. And he says the weather for many of those weekend events has been better than in years past.
