Carthage VFW Honors First Responders

News

Local veterans thank the first responders that keep their community safe with an A.M. feast.

The Carthage VFW hosts a breakfast for first responders in the Carthage area to thank them for all they do.

That included police, fire, sheriffs, highway patrol, EMS and more.

VFW officials see these people as local heroes who deserve all the recognition they can get, even if that just means a warm meal to start the day.

“Veterans for a long time didn’t get recognized. Especially our Vietnam Vets. Things along that line. So, people are starting to recognize them now and it’s just a good feeling. I mean, just to let these guys know that everything they do is appreciated,” says Former Post Commander, Patrick Brown.

Brown also says it took about 20 veterans to put the whole breakfast together and their efforts paid off two-fold.
