Carthage Chamber of Commerce gives back to the fire department

News

An area Chamber of Commerce shows it’s support for a group of people devoted to public safety, with a small token of their appreciation.

Each month the Carthage Chamber of Commerce selects a business or organization that is making a contribution to the community. The winner for the month of December was the Carthage Fire Department, and Chief Roger Williams says it’s nice for his employees to be recognized for their efforts.

“Oh we’re certainly honored to get this, you know it just confirms to us that the work we do out there is appreciated and that’s good to know; we do what we do because we love what we do and you know that’s the biggest part of it, the guys, they love to help people,” says Roger Williams, Carthage Fire Chief.

Williams, himself, is coming up on 41 years of service to the department. The Carthage Police Department received the same award from the Chamber a few months ago.
