Buildings on Pittsburg State campus damaged from storms

News

Monday night’s storms also damaged a building at Pittsburg State University.

High winds that came through town late Monday afternoon damaged the roof of Grubbs Hall. The building houses the school’s Department of English and Modern Languages, the Department of Communication and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Custodial crews and faculty have been working to remove supplies, furniture and electronics. However, water continued to flow into the building throughout the day Tuesday as the heavy rains continued.

Minor damage was reported to other buildings on campus, including the Garfield Weede building, Carnie Smith Stadium and the Kansas Technology Center.

Emergency management crews do not believe the damage to the campus was caused by the possible tornado.
