Battle of the Badges

News

The Pittsburg Fire Department and Police Department are partnering with the Red Cross for a good cause.

Their Battle of the Badges blood drive and chili cook-off is bringing the community together to donate blood and enjoy some food. After participants donate blood, they have the chance to taste chili from the police and fire departments and vote on whose is better. Red Cross Volunteer Coordinator Paul Lyle says he hopes donors will stop in for the blood drive and stay to enjoy some friendly competition.

“We have a goal of about 50 donors each day, and right now it looks pretty good. I think we’ll meet and exceed our goal,” says Paul Lyle.

If you are interested in donating blood for the program, they will be back tomorrow at the Frisco Event Center in Pittsburg from 8:30 am to 2 pm. The winning department of the chili cook-off will receive a trophy honoring them with the best chili.
