You’ll soon be able to order pastry at a Joplin restaurant and help a good cause at the same time.
Panera Bread will be selling pink bagels throughout the month of October to raise money for the “Hope for You Breast Cancer Foundation.”
Group members held a kickoff party for the annual event outside of the restaurant. Foundation members also presented two, six thousand dollar checks to the Mercy Health Foundation and the Freeman Health Foundation to pay for mammograms for women who otherwise can’t afford one.
“We’re all volunteers and we could not exist and give so much money to stay in the Four State area without partners like Panera,” says Sharon Clark, President, Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation.
“Every day through the month of October we do donate 25 cents per every bagel however, on Friday the 12th it will be a hundred percent of all of our proceeds so that’s our big day and we have pre order forms for that day,” says Bobbee Hoffstatter, Panera Bread General Manager.
Hoffstater says Panera sold nearly 58 hundred of the pink bagels last year and hopes to sell seven thousand this year.
