Employees from a local communications company spend their day educating area youth about the growing field of technology.
The AT&T Joplin Hacemos Chapter hosted more than 30 high school students in Monett for “High Technology Day.” Hacemos is an employee resource group that supports Hispanic or Latino employees and their communities.
Students learned how to code, the importance of not texting and driving, and even cyberbullying. The event was an opportunity to expand their future careers.
“Of course just keeping up with the technology changes over the years, and really introducing how they interact with technology on a daily basis even though they may not realize how much they’re doing that,” says Elizabeth Schmohe, Customer Service Specialist.
Thousands of students across the nation also participated in today’s events. It’s a national event that has been put on for nearly two-decades.
