A Thornfield, Missouri man was arrested early Saturday morning after being caught in the process of burglarizing an antique mall in Midway, Arkansas.

Christopher Mattson, 45, was coming out of The Old School House Antique Mall at approximately 4 a.m. The store owner held Mattson at gunpoint until a deputy arrived to take him into custody.

After being caught, Mattson pushed the store owner in the chest and the store owner then fired a round into the ground. Mattson did not resist after that.

The door to the antique mall had been kicked in and an audible alarm sounded. Mattson damaged some items inside the building but then came out and was apprehended.

Mattson has been charged with felony commercial burglary and assault in the third degree, which is a misdemeanor. Mattson is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond and will appear before the Circuit Court later this month.
