Area event gives residents opportunity to recycle and refurbish unwanted items

With the success of shows like “American Pickers,” the industry of “junking” has never been more popular.

And if you’d like to do some of it yourself, Joplin had the perfect event for it Saturday.

2 Friends and Junk was held at the Joplin Convention and Trade Center.

Vendors sold vintage, eclectic, antique, and recycled items.

With the event getting bigger every year, locals are hoping it will only attract more people to the idea of refurbishing, recycling, and selling older things.

Sabrina Purkey, Event Promoter, says, “It’s hard to explain; it’s surreal. I don’t know, I just love it. I can’t believe it at times. I don’t know. I really thank everyone though.”

More than 100 booths were in attendance for this year’s event.
