Annual table tennis tournament draws players form all over the area


Table tennis players from all over the area were in Joplin on Saturday for the Spring Tournament.

The Joplin Table Tennis Club hosts the tournament every year.

People from all over the area of all different ages and nationalities participated in hopes to win.

Some came with high accolades, including a former Olympian and one man who is number one in the National Senior Division.

Winfred Addy, former Olympic table tennis player, says, “I can’t explain it. Just qualifying for the Olympics wasn’t easy. Even though I didn’t win a medal, but it was the best experience of my life playing table tennis.”

Parviz Mojaverian, #1 in the National Senior Division. says, “Thank God I’m still healthy and my knees and my arm and so on. I plan to keep playing and they won’t underestimate me even in this tournament.”

The tournament concluded Saturday with declaring the winners in each division of the competition.
