NEOSHO, Mo. - With this week being law enforcement fallen officers week, many of the departments are honoring their own fallen in a special way.
Law enforcement agencies from around Newton County held the Annual Service of Remembrance to honor service men and women who have died in the line of duty. The service featured prayer, a guest speaker, reading of the names, and a moment of silence. 50 fellow officers and community members not only retold their favorite memories of fallen service members, but to also showed their support for those who keep the community safe.
"This is our opportunity to remember the names of those in law enforcement. To remember them. To remember what they sacrifice. To remember their families. To give them honor. To pay them homage. It's very important to us," says William Doubek, Chief of Chaplains for Law Enforcement.
Six officers killed in 2018, two from 2019, and four K-9's were all honored at the service.
