A Southeast Kansas organization gives gifts and offers lessons to new and expectant mothers

“My Family of Cherokee County,” United Health Care, and the health department all came together to provide gifts and lessons in pre-natal and post-natal care.

The organizations hosted the event to give new mothers the things they need to raise a happy child and information about being a parent.

One of the main talking points of the shower was how to safety put your baby to sleep.

As research from United Heath Care shows, things have changed over the years.

“So, with safe sleep, we like to say that there are three things that are very important to remember. It’s going to be the A, B, C, always, on their backs in a clutter free crib. And that’s where a baby should sleep,” says Celia Ruiz with United Health Care.

More than 12 maternity resource vendors made it out to the event. Cherokee County plans on hosting another baby shower later this year on October 21st.
