A Southeast Kansas business helps strengthen companies in Bourbon County

A Ft. Scott business is named one of the best in the nation for its work in masonry.

Mid-Continental Restoration company in Ft. Scott was recently named the seventh best masonry company in the nation by General Contractor’s Magazine. Company officials say the recognition comes as a result of the work done by employees on several projects, including historic homes, churches and state capitol buildings.  Bourbon County Economic Development Director Jody Hoener says while it’s an honor for Mid-Continental, this kind of recognition can also help with growing other local businesses.

“We can promote that throughout the community and say, ‘you know what, this is what Bourbon County is able to show, this is what we produce,” says Jody Hoener, Bourbon County Economic Development Director.

Mid-Continental is also doing restoration work at the Schifferdecker Mansion in Joplin. Last year, they restored Kansas City’s Union Station. Two years ago, they worked on the North Dakota State Capitol, Arkansas State Capitol, and Texas State Capitol at the same time.
