Many Neosho students are excited about an addition to their playground at Benton Elementary.
They are calling it their sound garden. It consists of reworked pipes and some musical instruments to incorporate elements of sound into students’ playtime. The project came to life through grants and donations plus a little help from the community.
“Music provides a great outlet for students, especially in a school that has a high population of English language learners, and speech learners who may struggle in other ways of communication. So this is a great outlet for them,” says Cassandra Caranahan, Benton Elementary.
Preparations for the project started back in 2017 with Benton Elementary’s music teacher who wanted to try something new with her students.
