We are just days away from one of the biggest off road events in the area, and fans will have something new to look forward to this year.
Teams are already arriving in Pittsburg for the 2017 Kansas Baja S.A.E. A total of 110 teams from around the world, including Pittsburg State, will compete in the four day event. Teams will spend the day Thursday and Friday showing their cars off to judges. Fan favorite events like acceleration tests and the sled pull will take place Saturday. On Sunday, the teams will hit the course in an off road endurance race. While this is not the first time Pittsburg Sate University has hosted the race, changes to the course promise to take the action to a new level this year.

“Basically it’s built like a moto cross course, it’s really designed to test the cars on many different types of terrain,” says PSU associate professor of automotive technology Trent Lindbloom.
The four hour race on the two mile course will kick off on Sunday. Parking will be located at the Kansas Technology Center, with free shuttle service to the race course. As for admission, the entire event is offered free to the public.
