In honor of National Nutrition Month, the Area Agency on Aging held its annual “Dinner Plate Fundraiser.”
The purpose of the event last month was to raise money to pay for the Agency’s Meals on Wheels program which serves seven southwest Missouri senior centers.
For the first time ever, a trophy was awarded to the center that brought in the most money.
Tuesday, a trophy was given to Tammie Lynch with the Carl Junction Senior Center for raising the most money.
Jennifer Shotwell, C.E.O., Area Agency on Aging, says, “The funds that were raised will all go back into our nutrition program and that will serve our four county area. It goes a long way. We never ask for people to pay for their meals. It’s a donation only, so we definitely appreciate everybody coming together and raising the funds.”
In all, the event brought in nearly $19,000, with the Carl Junction center accounting for over $6,100.
