A four-day celebration honors an influential Southeast Kansas man who made his mark through various forms of art.
It’s the 15th Annual Gordan Parks Celebration at a Fort Scott Museum named in his honor.
The town native was a famous photographer, writer, musician and filmmaker.
Today’s events included a dimensional art workshop, a display of his photography and jazz music, and a guided tour through parts of Fort Scott that were a part of Park’s life.
“We think by having the museum and then having the yearly celebration that it really helps people know who was as a person and as an artist,” says Museum Director, Jill Warford.
Later in the night the Choice of Weapons Award will be presented to a filmmaker, as an annual part of the celebration.
