The event supported the Freeman Health System’s Bill and Virginia Lefen Center.
That facility specializes in treatments for people with autism.
More than 500 hundred people walked at the MSSU Fred G. Hughes stadium.
This year’s theme “The Wizard of Oz” got many families in the spirit.
“It’s amazing how many people come out and the really neat thing is we see the same families year after year. It’s kind of like our walk has become a reunion. You see kids grow up from little 3 year olds to teenagers and you get to celebrate success with them.”said Kristy Parker, Bill and Virginia Lefen Center Clinical Director
Parker adds the center strives each year to sponsor two scholarships for children with autism in the Four State area.
Those selected can attend an intensive day treatment program receiving therapy throughout the week.
