SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KOLR) — MoDOT says the days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are historically a deadly time on the roadways.

During that time last year, there were 291 fatalities on Missouri roads.

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is encouraging drivers to pay attention as they travel to their holiday destinations.

As this might be the first time in weeks that many are getting behind the wheel.
