PITTSBURG, Kans. — The Pittsburg Police Department is reconsidering a homicide investigation following new information from an autopsy.
On Thursday, March 10th, an autopsy was conducted on the body of Pittsburg resident Misty Sorenson. While the cause and manner of death for Sorenson are still pending at this time, authorities now believe her death may not be the result of a homicide.
In a release, PPD said “information has since developed to where it is believed this may not be the case,” in regards to their original homicide investigation.
Investigators are still waiting for the full results from the final autopsy report from the pathologist’s office in Kansas City.
Forty-four-year-old Sorenson was found deceased inside her Pittsburg home on March 8th at 1105 W. 4th St.

PITTSBURG, Kans. — The woman found deceased inside a Pittsburg home Tuesday has been identified and police are now investigating her death as a homicide.
The deceased was identified as 44-year-old Misty L. Watson Sorenson, of Pittsburg. Sorenson’s body has since been sent to Kansas City for an autopsy.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KSBI) Crime Scene Response Team is assisting the Pittsburg Police Department in their investigation, along with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

PITTSBURG, Kans. — A death investigation has been launched after authorities discovered a deceased woman inside her Pittsburg home on Monday.
After receiving a call reporting a resident had not been heard from for a couple of days, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department visited a residence at 1105 W. 4th St. in town. It was here that officers along with EMS, discovered the body of a woman inside.
The department said they are treating this death investigation as “suspicious in nature at this time.” The identity of the woman has not been released, pending notification to next-of-kin.
