JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — Just before 3:45 p.m. Jasper County Emergency 911 received reports of a multi-vehicle crash at west 7th and Central City Road.
Carl Junction Fire, METS ambulance, and Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol and MoDOT Emergency Response were notified.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Team was notified and assembled to investigate a fatality crash.
Driving a 1979 Chevy Malibu was a Moundville, Missouri, man, Darrell Shoemaker, 32. He was traveling northbound on Central City Road. He was killed in the crash.
Westbound on 7th driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado was an Independence, Kansas, man, Robert McDaniel, 59. He was transported to Freeman Joplin with moderate injuries.

Only the surviving driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Chucks ‘s Towing removed the vehicles from the crash scene.
NOTE: The pickup driver that was initially sought as part of the investigation contacted authorities. We will update as more information is received regarding this subject.
