WEBB CITY, Mo. — About 9:30 p.m. Thursday night the report of shots fired in the 800 block of east Fountain Road in Webb City alerted area agencies to assist Webb City Police who had responded to a trespassing call.
Multiple agencies responded emergency to assist WCPD including, Joplin Police, Oronogo, Duquesne, Jasper County Deputies, Carthage, Missouri State Highway Patrol and others.
One suspect was rushed Priority One to an area hospital after suffering gunshot wound. His condition is unknown at this time.
Webb City PD update us in the early morning hours of Friday. Upon arrival to the 800 block of Fountain Road, “WCPD encountered several subjects in a truck with a trailer. The truck had apparently driven into a field around a chain strung between t-posts. Upon contact with the subjects, an altercation occurred and two Webb City Police Officers were assaulted. During the altercation one of the subjects gained control of an officer’s Taser and began tasing the officer while the officer was on the ground. The subject attempted to gain control of the officer’s duty weapon and the officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the subject one time. The officer was able to gain control of the subject and, after securing the subject in handcuffs, began administering medical attention. The subject was transported to the hospital by ambulance. One officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other officer was treated and released by EMS at the scene. Five subjects were detained at the scene.”
Numerous suspect vehicles were towed from the scene.
Webb City has requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol DDCC to investigate.
The crime scene was cleared around 1:20 a.m.
