JOPLIN, Mo. — Professional Eater Randy Santel came to Joplin last year and was one of our TOP 10 most-watched stories of the year! He ate a huge 6 lb burrito at El Taco Loco on West 7th. He won!

Now Saturday he returned, this time to MacCheesy, 2202 South Rangeline, Where he ate a 7 lb Bacon Cheddar Ranch Mac & Cheese and then a 1 lb S’mores Milkshake.

Santel has more than 1 million followers on social media and he’s been doing food challenges all over the world while finishing his second college degree at Missouri State University. “My first major was Construction Management.”

And his second degree?

“Nutrition and Dietetics. The last time I was here [in Joplin] I finished my degree in May 2019 at Missouri State University in Springfield.” His goal is to get 1,000 Food Challenge wins, today was win #846.

He says as he retires from food challenges, he will change his focus to healthy eating and nutrition. “I’m a big guy, 6′ 5″ but I think I’ll be able to lose about 50 lbs.”

“In August of next year I will start my Dietetics internship. And that will take about 7-9 months. I’ll become a registered Dietitian and then thanks to all my food challenges and growing my social media? I’ll be the #1 followed Dietitian in the world.”
