LAMAR, Mo. — The Lamar Police Department state they have contacted the Springfield Fire Department Bomb Squad Friday morning regarding a suspicious vehicle a man drove to Casey’s, 401 East 12th.

9:00 AM update tells is U.S. 160 is closed to traffic. The Missouri State Highway Patrol will assist Barton County Sheriff’s office and Lamar Police with traffic control. “We will be shutting down 12th Street from Gulf Street to Lexington Street. Please avoid the area. Semi’s will be detoured to 17th Street as a way to get from Gulf to Lexington,” LPD update on social media.

11:45 AM update Lamar Police state, “The bomb squad has cleared the scene. Everything should be open in just a few minutes. We want to thank everyone for their cooperation!”

“This morning, a male went into Casey’s in Lamar and said he had a bomb in his car. Officers responded and found multiple wires in the car.”
