LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo.– Just before 4:00 PM Saturday, Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed a boat explosion occurred at Lake of the Ozarks. They responded to a vessel that exploded near the 1 mm of the Glaize Arm.
Preliminary details were released Sunday morning regarding the incident where one person was killed.
According to Missouri State Highwway Patrol Cpl. D.D.Mathes #843, the incident was a, “fire/explosion (fuel related but not propulsion/generator related).”
The boat was being operated by Brent Soloman, 52, of Osage Beach, he suffered minor injuries. Two occupants suffered serious injuries from St. Louis, Benjamin Dodd, 47 and Lauren Wilken, 37. One man perished, Shawn Carroll, 53, of Richmond Heights, Missouri, an inner suburb of St. Louis.

Investigators were assisted by Osage Beach Fire and EMS, Mid-Mo Fire Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Dive Team.
The vessel, a 1999 Sea Ray, was docked when the fire/explosion occurred. It was removed for investigation by Lake Tow.

- There were four people aboard the boat.
- Three injuries were reported to investigators. Extent of injuries is unknown.
- Late Saturday afternoon the fourth person was accounted for, discovered deceased, in the burned out vessel.
