Ranked number one in the state and 20-0 after a semifinal win against Pittsburg, the Raiders saw their bid for another state championship end at the hands of Coffeyville, 4-3.
Also, the Frontenac softball team won their 4A championship, the McAuley Catholic baseball team won a Class 1, District 6 title and Nevada falls at the hands of Warrensburg in the Class 4, District 12 title.
Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State finished the regular season with splits at home, catapulting both squads to the MIAA conference tournament. The Lions will host a home series beginning Thursday, while the Gorillas will go to Warrensburg to play Central Missouri.
In softball, Pitt won two while MoSo took a split. Those teams will play one final doubleheader to wrap the regular season, with the Gorillas battling for a playoff spot.
The Gorilla baseball team won the first but lost the second against Emporia State, while the softball team did the same against Missouri Southern. In game two the Lions scored 11 runs to win in extra innings.
