JOPLIN, MO -- A Joplin charity expands services to those in need. Watered Gardens celebrated the completion of a building expansion this morning. It included a new women's shelter and a "worth shop" where people can sell their hand-crafted goods. Representatives say they're thankful they'll be able to reach more community members in need.

"There really is a need for a familial type of connection to happen. And that's really what we're all about. We want to embrace people right where they are," said James Whitford, Watered Gardens Director.

The cost of the expansion was an estimated one million dollars, but thanks to volunteers and community donations, the final cost was just around 400 thousand dollars.
