PITTSBURG, KS.--- Via Christi Hospital is celebrating a major milestone in its latest construction project. Work crews are half-way complete with the new surgery center. Today the hospital held a topping-off ceremony. A Christmas tree was placed on top of the incomplete structure of the building. The event also included the signing of a beam with employees, construction workers, and community members involved in the symbolic blessing to the new structure. The beam will go in the northeast end of the surgery center.
"It's a great opportunity for us to celebrate a wonderful milestone for our project. It's exciting to be part of this building program on behalf of Via Christi Hospital and for the community to be supportive. We had a beautiful day to celebrate it," said Randy Cason, Via Christi Senior Administrator.
Construction is on schedule and hospital officials expect the building to be complete late this summer.
