Update: Second Arrest Made in Assault on a Joplin Woman

Mark A. Thomas, of Diamond, is in custody for First Degree Assault.
JOPLIN, MO--- A second arrest has been made in connection to an assault of a Joplin woman that occurred last month. Saturday, Dec. 7, Joplin Police received an anonymous tip on the location of Mark A. Thomas, wanted for First Degree Assault. Thomas was taken into custody without incident and has been arrested on four felony warrants.

Thomas is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail with a bond of $200,000.

The incident occurred, Oct. 30, officers were called to a home at 3216 Grand Ave. in Joplin. They discovered Amy Denney, suffering from serious head injuries. Upon investigation, Joplin Police issued warrants for Mark A. Thomas and Samuel J. Hughes. On November 1, Hughes was arrested and taken into custody on charges of First Degree Assault.
